In March 2025, ArtLab at Harvard turned into a lab and studio space for Off-site to experiment with the multiple aspects and dimensions of its expanded archive. This archive emerged while making the docufiction film Borá (in-progress) when initial encounters with interlocutors and unofficial heritage sites left in ruin in Bulgaria directly informed—and eventually grew into material, vegetal, mineral, aural, and visual prompt material for—Off-site. ArtLab provided the time and space to rethink Off-site into a lab that lands in different spaces for temporary periods of time. Through multimodal experimentation with elements of fiction, non-fiction, fieldwork, and collaboration, Borá sets the groundwork for re-engaging Off-site’s extensive archive of sound, material culture, and moving image in new ways.
